How You Can Help...

View Volunteer Opportunities

Monetary donations:

Monetary donations help to support our efforts to find homes for the animals through weekly off-site adoption events AND our adoption center.  To make a donation, you can mail a check to:

Save the Pets

PO Box 5905

Eugene, OR 97405

You can also donate online by clicking on the 'Donations' link on our homepage.  You do not need a Pay Pal account to donate online.

Volunteers:

Volunteers are always needed to assist our committees, organize and staff adoption fairs, and help plan fundraising benefits.

Foster families:

Fostering is very under-rated and really does save lives!  Some animals that were deemed unadoptable because they seemed so fearful in shelters, find a whole new outlook on life once in foster situations.  We are in need to fosters who are willing to take in animals, work with them, and bring them to weekly adoption events.  Our foster families are our angels!

Donations:

Donations are gladly accepted for raffles and auctions.  If you have useable items, gift baskets, time-shares, vacation homes, or services, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.  In addition, for everyday use, we always accept extra collars, leashes, treats, and even dog crates!  Contact Save The Pets for donation drop-off locations.

FUTURE PLANS

Eventually Save the Pets plans on launching a capital campaign to open an animal adoption center (conveniently located) for animals to be viewed 7 days a week by potential adopters.

Save the Pets believes that a center would improve adoption rates because of the convenience and friendly environment they envision.  It would also serve as a rehabilitation center for animals who have never been inside a home or for some that are unsocialized or terrified from past experiences or their time confined in a cage.

Save the Pets feels that creating a safe environment for the animals would allow them to thrive and, in some cases, regain their loss of trust.  The center would constitute a home-like atmosphere where cats are free to roam, to perch or enjoy sunning themselves in a cozy bed, and where dogs can lounge on a comfy couch, take a walk around the community, or go home in the evening with a volunteer or staff member for a "doggy sleepover".  There are thousands of homeless animals in Lane County alone and many end up in shelters.  Some are euthanized simply due to lack of space.  This is no fault of the shelters or rescue groups who dedicate their lives to saving animals.  Save the Pets wants to alleviate some of their burden and help increase adoption numbers.

Without the desperate need to constantly create more space for other animals as most shelters struggle with, Save the Pets will have the extra time to enforce a solid adoption process. They would implement home checks, follow up calls, and humane education classes starting from the elementary level on up to ensure these animals are placed in a compatible home that will treat them with the kindness, love and respect they deserve.

 Thank you for your support!
